
David Druml
Founder and president David Druml grew up in a construction family and was himself a contractor for more than 15 years. He founded multiple construction-related companies, including a public works construction firm, a precast manufacturer, a bonding and insurance agency, a risk management firm and currently serves as president of Direct Surety, a managing general surety underwriter. A professor of risk management at UC Berkeley Extension, David has developed a proprietary risk analysis system that applies Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to the construction industry. David’s construction industry know-how, risk analysis expertise and technological innovation have been instrumental in the formation of Direct Surety, a brand new type of company within the surety bond marketplace.

David Mahler
David is a veteran business developer and operations specialist with more than a decade of experience providing business, financial and risk-management services to the construction industry.
As executive vice president at Direct Surety, David oversees the company’s financial, information technology and compliance activities. Previously, David founded a risk-management consulting firm, helped launch an insurance and bonding agency, and managed an insurance sales team. He received a B.A. in economics, summa cum laude, from Claremont McKenna College where he was a Robert A. Day Fellow and McKenna Scholar, and an MBA in finance and strategy, with honors, from the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management.
